Seth Callander moved to New York City after college, where he started making art in 1982. He was a part of the East Village Gallery scene, exhibiting in many of the small galleries then. He also began designing and building furniture. After moving to Los Angeles in 1988, he continued to make sculpture and operated a furniture studio. He showed in various group shows in LA and had several exhibits at the Terrain Gallery in San Francisco.
Since moving to Vermont, he has often exhibited in Sculpurefest, an annual show in Woodstock, VT. He was the featured artist there in 2003, and will be again in the spring of 2019. He was a fellow at the Vermont Studio Center in 2011.
