PJ Desrochers seeks to visually express the emphatic telling of the human experience. PJ uses their personhood as a launch pad into understanding human phenomena. PJ’s work in this life is spent witnessing and participating in human growth and development processes as a psychotherapist. These human expressions and transitions leave them awestruck on a daily basis. PJ is as fascinated by these happenings in others as much as they are by their own evolution. PJ adores using conceptual methods of portrait and self-portrait photography to understand and illustrate their current human narrative. PJ’s art is an offering, to themselves and the viewer, an opportunity to be seen.
PJ uses several photographic mediums for capturing images. They use various forms of installation, often installed in natural settings throughout Central Vermont. Currently, PJ experiments with printing photographs on transparency paper and layering them for a desired effect, as well as utilizing projection, and videography methods to create dialogue with themselves and the viewer using images to construct, convey, and mirror current human experience.
