Hannah Morris is a visual artist living in Barre, Vermont. Born and raised in southern Vermont, she studied art, writing and documentary studies at Bates College, and eventually made her way to the Western Cape of South Africa with an initial plan to study botanical illustration. Nearly six years later, she left South Africa with an MPhil in Visual Arts with a focus on narrative illustration. She moved back to the United States, spending the next three years in New York City, working as a graphic artist In 2010, she returned to Vermont, eventually settling in Barre. She has shown her work in solo and group shows in South Africa, New York, and Vermont. She designed and illustrated an award-winning picture book published in Cape Town, and attended several artist’s residencies, including Instituto Sacatar in Bahia, Brazil. In her current work, she combines painting and collage, draws in pen & ink and thread, and creates soft sculpture installations.
